Brangelina's monthy rent costs more than your house
Categories: Celeb Parenting
As you probably know, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie lead quite the globe-trotting family -- in fact, it seems like every week they're carting their kids around to some new exotic destination.
They're currently staying at the famous Waldorf Towers in New York -- in a newly renovated, 6,000 square-foot apartment. That's about six times the size of most modest single family homes, and in Manhattan, that means a whopping rent of $100,000 -- a month.
However, when money is no object, there's no need to compromise, so you get exactly what you want. The Waldorf is close to the United Nations, which is helpful for Angelina, who's a goodwill ambassador. Plus it's close to the French school where Maddox gets his education, and comes complete with six bedrooms, six baths and a kitchen big enough to feed the entire Jolie-Pitt brood (not to mention the room service, maid service, and 24-hour concierge).
Ah, wouldn't it be nice?

Yeah, it'd be pretty nice, but I don't think I'll be digging too deeply into my pockets to support any of their charities. I've got more kids than they do and my husband makes less than that one month's rent in a year. I suppose they've got leases in other areas of the world, too.
(do they even ask their fans to support their charities? Don't want to lump them in with the Farm Aid, Live Aid and 9/11 Aid folks if they don't operate that way)
Those amounts of money are simply staggering.

Would I really want it? I'm not sure I would. I like the way I live and I'm not sure an extra million (or six) would change me much. I'm willing to accept it as a challenge however!

It's astonishing to me that parentdish would feel the need to reveal this information. If I had the kind of money and interest Brad and Angelina receive, I too would spend it on myself and my family for comfort; after all, I earned it. I donate a share of it and if I can still afford a place of luxury and the added security that a place like Waldorf offers, I'd sleep comfortably. I would want to give my children everything I could possibly afford as I think most mothers would. Who are we to judge what others' should do with their hard earned money that they earn? It's just plain jealousy when people judge and project their negative opinions on others who can afford something they cannot. I guess everyone has to pick and choose where and what they will spend their money on. I'm a mother of 4 and every month like clock work, I go to the spa. Every woman and mother needs a moment of self indulgence just for her own sanity! My kids even say when they see me stressed, Mommy you need to go to the spa to relax. Does that make me a bad selfish woman? I think it's important for every woman and man to take care of themselves so you can replenish your strength and be a better parent and person... just so happens that the spa works best for me. I wish I had a bigger house so my kids can each have their own bedrooms and my husband and I are saving to someday reach that goal. It's my personal desire not my kids though my teenager probably would like her own room to have privacy but she also likes to see me happy. We manage our money well and will have or dream home soon and that is our story. Brad and Angelina's story is that they can afford it and with that said, good for them! And good for anyone who can afford housing that fits comfortably for their own family and dream.
This cliche line is VERY true, "Home is where the heart is" and if they and anyone in the world can make their home the best they're heart wishes, wants and can afford... Congratulations! I think it boils down to what it is you want and need and everyone is different and can afford different things but I think we all can agree that it comes down to comfort and what works best for our own personal needs.
I think Brangelina give a lot to humanitarian causes and also deserve to splurge on their family. I don't consider them selfish individuals unlike some other wealthy people. I'd stay in a hut as long as my family is happy and safe and I would stay at the Waldorf if my family was happy and safe. I don't think either one of those circumstances is selfish nor irresponsible as long as my family is happy and safe.
